My name's Patrick. I like bands you've heard of (doubtful), longboarding, girls, and other miscellaneous, heterosexual boy things. I'm also white, and as you all know, it ain't easy bein' white.

“Catchy is great on the first listen, but it’s exhausting. You can have moments that have that universal appeal, but for me, what’s great is to pull a bait and switch. Going through the process of trying to make a proper recording of your own work, you learn a lot about writing. Hearing a song a hundred times, you get bored with the catchy stuff. That’s a trick that’s helped my songwriting: Don’t be satisfied with catchy, be a little more ambitious. “

-James Mercer of The Shins
